Mobility, Parisi (Anci): "Municipalities among the first to implement Pnrr potential"

Rome, July 3 (Adnkronos) – “We, as Municipalities, were the first to put the potential of the PNRR to work. We have built new infrastructure, many of these works are underway but we were among the first to have respected the timing and objectives of the PNRR”. This was stated by Vito Parisi, vice-president of Anci (National Association of Italian Municipalities) with responsibility for local public transport and sustainable mobility, participating in the presentation of the third edition of the 'Eco Festival of sustainable mobility and intelligent cities', which Anci sponsors, scheduled for 16 and 17 September 2025 at the Congress Centre in Piazza di Spagna in Rome.
"Now we need to talk about governance, because the infrastructure is there, but we need a serious planning process, which goes beyond the Pums, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans that several Municipalities have equipped themselves with. We need transport agencies - he adds - with managers who manage public transport, and this must happen at a local and public level, such as that of the Municipalities. I hope that this fund will be replenished, because the resources are not satisfactory, and that there will be a rethink".
Compared to metropolitan ones, the transport agencies of medium and small municipalities seem to have already identified virtuous models that, explains Parisi, could also be applied to large cities: “I hope that as soon as possible there will be a sharing of data in this regard. Unfortunately, today the demand for public transport is based on historical data and does not take into account the evolutions that have taken place, of what happens inside train stations or with car sharing rather than bicycles. It is a system that is evolving, but it is important that its governance returns to a public body. The hope is that all this becomes very concrete, because given the trends now imminent, such as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence, we cannot undergo a process that risks being in the hands of the private sector”.
